Abstract
Writing is an essential process in learning activities because writing is an activity that can help students to acquire a language. By writing, students may express their thoughts and place them into written form. But sometimes writing becomes difficult because it requires more effort. Weblogs are technological innovations that can assist students with writing tasks. This study investigates in greater depth the use of weblogs in EFL students' writing activities and the focus is on the students’ writing. This research employs descriptive qualitative design. Participants in this research were English Education majors from the Class of 2020 at a private university in Yogyakarta who participated in blogging activities. Researchers collect data through interviews. The findings of this study indicate that after implementing weblogs, numerous benefits can be realized, those benefits are weblogs help students in the developing of the word to be a content, weblogs can inspire them to use technology, help students by encouraging them to remain active in their writing activities on weblogs. But besides the positive perception reveals, the negative perceptions also shown by the students, those are doing weblog activities is something that requires suitable time to write, students are lack of self-confidence, cyberbullying, and lack of feedback and corrections are the negative students’ perceptions on doing weblogs. From the research that has been done it was found that using blogs provides many benefits for students and they still maintain it until now.
