Abstract
The objectives of this study are 2 aspects: the first is to find out how
effective the Japanese luvlingua audio media are for hospitality students at SMK
N 1 Depok Yogyakarta in the academic year 2020/2021, the second is to
determine the students' responses to Japanese luvlingua audio media for
hospitality students at SMK N 1 Depok Yogyakarta, 2020/2021 academic year.
The research method used in this research is an experimental method with a
quantitative approach method, the design used is true experiment design. The
research instrument used was in the form of tests and non-tests. Based on the
results of statistical calculations, it is obtained that t count is 1.50 and t table is
2.03 with degrees of freedom of 35 at the 5% significance level. If the two t values
are compared, then t count is smaller than t table (tcount 1.50 <ttable 2.03). So
from the results of this analysis it can be concluded that there is no significant
difference between the posttest mean score of the experimental class and the
posttest mean score of the control class.
Based on the results of the effectiveness criteria test using Normalized gain,
the Normalized gain value for the experimental class was 0.50. Meanwhile, the
Normalized gain value for the control class is 0.15. This means that there is a
significant difference between learning Japanese vocabulary using LuvLingua
audio media and learning using LuvLingua audio media. Based on the results of
the questionnaire analysis, all (100%) of the respondents stated that Luvlingua
audio media can help improve the ability to memorize Japanese vocabulary.
