Hubungan Emotional Quotient (EQ) Dengan Derajat Depresi Pada Santri Kelas XI dan XII Madrasah Aliyah Pesantren Tahfidz Qur'an Terpadu Al-Hikmah Cirebon

This study aims to determine the level of emotional intelligence of the research
subject, to determine the degree of depression of the research subject, and to
determine the correlation between emotional intelligence and the degree of
depression in teenage girls of the Madrasah AliyahPesantrenTahfidz Qur’an
Terpadu (Integrated Islamic senior high school and Qur’an Memorization School)
Al-Hikmah Cirebon.The method used in this research was quantitative. The
population in this research class was 106 students from Class XI and XII. The
sampling technique used simple random sampling. The research data technique
was carried out by distributing questionnaires related to emotional intelligence
with the Likert scale answer choice model and depression with the BDI (Beck’s
Depression Inventory) scale answer choice model. The data analysis technique
used the correlation test using the SPSS Statistics 22 program to see the results of
the correlationbetween emotional intelligence (EQ) and the degree of depression
in the students of class XI and XII of the Madrasah AliyahPesantrenTahfidz
Qur’an TerpaduAl-Hikmah Cirebon. The results of this study indicate that (1) the
level of emotional intelligence of the students at Madrasah
AliyahPesantrenTahfidz Qur’an TerpaduAl-Hikmah Cirebonclass XI and XII is at
a moderate level (2) The distribution of depression levels for students at Madrasah
AliyahPesantrenTahfidz Qur’an TerpaduAl-Hikmah Cirebonin class XI and class
XII MA varies, namely normal depression, mild depression, moderate
depression,and severe depression (3) The hypothesis is accepted that there is a
negative correlation between emotional intelligence (EQ) and the degree of
depression in students at Madrasah AliyahPesantrenTahfidz Qur’an TerpaduAlHikmah Cirebonin class XI and XII. This is evidenced by the correlation test
results with the Sig. value of 0.000>0.05 and the correlation coefficient value (r)
of -0.621.So it can be said that the lower the emotional intelligence (EQ) value,
the higher the degree of depression, and vice versa, the higher the emotional
intelligence (EQ) value, the lower the degree of depression.
