Abstract

This study discusses the Teacher Method in Instilling Character Values in Early Childhood in Kindergartens in Sleman District. Character values need to be instilled from an early age, starting with parents who instill them while at home. Character values are based on Permendikbud Number 20 of 2018, namely there are 5 character values regarding strengthening character education (PPK), which are implemented by applying Pancasila values in character planting, involving schools, families and communities which are carried out for 5 or 6 days school in 1 week. This study aims (1) to determine the character value instilled in early childhood, (2) to describe the methods used by teachers in instilling character values in students, (3) to analyze the success of the methods used by kindergarten teachers. in planting character values in students in kindergartens in Sleman Distri This study used a mixed method approach with an ex-postfacto evaluative type. The research location is in Kindergarten throughout the Sleman District by using a sampling of 5 schools in the Sleman District. The research subjects were the principal, teachers, students, and parents of students. The sampling technique used in this research is random purposive sampling. Data collection techniques consisted of observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The qualitative data analysis technique uses three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Meanwhile, quantitative data analysis used descriptive analysis using SPSS. The results of this study indicate that (1) there are several character values instilled in kindergartens throughout Sleman District, namely religiosity, nationalism, independence, mutual cooperation and integrity. (2) in the process of inculcating character values in students, the teacher uses 8 methods, namely telling stories, conversing and question and answer, giving assignments, demonstrations, role playing, field trips and projects. (3) Based on statistical calculations, it shows that the success of the method used to instill character values is in the medium category.
