Abstract

This study is aimed to 1) analyze the strategies of ISMUBA (Al Islam, Kemuhammadiyahan, Arabic Language) teachers in motivating students for Tahfidz Al-Qur'an (Quran memorization), 2) describe the supporting and inhibiting factors of students’ motivation for Quran memorization. This research used a qualitative approach with descriptive qualitative method. 3 ISMUBA teachers and the principle of SMP Muhamamdiyah 1 Gamping became the research sample. Observation, interview and documentation were used as the data collection techniques of this research. The collected data were analyzed descriptively using data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The conclusion was drawn from the facts-based data obtained. The findings of this research indicate that: 1) The strategies carried out by the ISMUBA teachers in motivating the students to memorize the Quran are done by giving explanation and guidance on the virtues of memorizing the Quran, and giving appreciation to the students who memorize it quickly. 2) The supporting factors are parents who always remember their responsibility to educate their children, supports given by the teachers who always give the students appreciation, children who memorize the Quran will give their parents a crown in the afterlife. The inhibiting factors are lack of parental attention to the children, and the laziness of the students to memorize.
