Abstract

This study aims to find out the right strategy for tourism management in Sleman Regency which is affected by the covid 19 pandemic. The method used in this study uses descriptive qualitative methods, the type of data used in this study is primary data obtained directly through informants, and secondary data indirectly. This study uses the strategic management theory of Wheelen (Yunus, 2016), with analysis techniques of Strength, Weakness, Opportunities, Threats, the results of the study show that the strategy implemented by the Sleman Regency Tourism Office in managing tourism during the covid pandemic, there are four strategies that are analyzed using the SWOT analysis technique. The S - O strategy consists of improving the quality of tourism objects during the COVID-19 pandemic, optimizing tourism business actors during the COVID-19 pandemic, and utilizing information technology as a tourism marketing tool during the COVID-19 pandemic. While the W-O strategy consists of structuring and improving the quality and quantity of infrastructure and increasing public awareness in the application of health protocols. The S - T strategy, namely, increasing training and assistance to the community and increasing tourist support during the covid 19 pandemic by implementing health protocols, for the W - T strategy, consisting of establishing tourism cooperation between regions, increasing the participation of the community around tourist destinations, and raise awareness in implementing health protocols in the tourism sector.
