Abstract

The development of modern adaptations has led to an increase in the prevalence of obesity. Excess fat accumulation can affect the vagal reflex. Delayed heart rate recovery or ≤12 bpm has prognostic value in predicting ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. Therefore, the influence of the times on the ease of doing monotonous daily activities can cause an increase in the value of the anthropometric and have an impact on the heart rate recovery. This study aims to explain the effect of the anthropometric profile and heart rate recovery in young adults. The design of this study used the literature review method using the PubMed, Ebscohost, ProQuest, and Google scholar. The results showed that being overweight decreased heart rate recovery and delayed vagal reactivation which increased the risk of death due to sympathetic nerve dominance which increased the risk of heart attack. However, there is one article which states that heart rate recovery is only affected by high fitness aerobic activity.
