Abstract
Background : In Asia there are 66,780 cases of cardiac arrest outside the hospital were reported to The Pan Asian Resuscitation Outcomes Study and in Indonesia the incidence of cardiac arrest occurred around 10 out of 100,000 people reaching 300,000 - 500,000 cases in a year. Cardiac arrest can be dangerous if help action is not given immediately. Helpers can provide assistance if they have a high sense of self-efficacy in doing BLS. Self-efficacy is influenced by several factors, such as experience, knowledge, verbal persuasion, and the helper's emotional physiological state. Purpose : The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of BLS knowledge on the self-efficacy of FKIK UMY students. Methods : This study is a quantitative cross sectional study. The sample was taken by as many as 221 respondents using a simple random sampling technique. The data analysis of the result from this study used univariate and bivariate analysis (test spearman rank). The research instrument used a BLS knowledge questionnaire and General Self-Efficacy. The effect test uses a simple linear regression test. Results : The results of this study showed that the knowledge of BLS was in good category (57.9%), self-efficacy in good category (52.5%), and there was an effect of BLS knowledge on self-efficacy of FKIK UMY students with the results of regression analysis with a significant value of 0.001 0.05 there is an effect of 0.541 (B) the regression coefficient is positive. The R Square value of 0.323 means that 32.3% of FKIK UMY students' self-efficacy is influenced by the knowledge of BLS. Conclusion : The characteristics of the respondents came from four FKIK UMY program studies and were dominated by women. The description of BLS knowledge is in good category and self-efficacy picture is in good category. This study shows the influence of BLS knowledge on the self-efficacy of FKIK UMY students and it has a moderate correlation category.
