Abstract
COVID-19 pandemic give an impact on the teaching and learning process. The governments decide to lock down the city and limit some activities that gather large numbers of people such as educational activities, markets, and other public places. The purposes of this research are to find out the implementation of English teaching, problems, and also the solutions of the problems. Six English public secondary school teachers in Yogyakarta volunteered to participate in this research through invitation. The researcher used qualitative approach as a research design. The researcher applied interview as data collection technique. The findings of this research show that the English teachers have carried out online learning through a series of activities. Various applications and platforms ranging from learning management system to additional resource are employed. However, many problems emerge from the teachers along with the valid reasons. The findings indicated that, some English teachers have personal problem, technical problem, pedagogical problems, students’ personal problem, and classroom management problems. The teachers also mentioned some solution to solve the problems, namely improving technology facilitation to solve technical problems, conducting workshop digital literacy to solve teachers’ personal problems, designing material effectively, and designing simple assessment to solve pedagogical problems, preventing students to cheat and enhancing communication to solve students’ personal problems. Future prospective research directed and encouraged.
