Abstract
Helicle is a hybrid bike, where the basic concept comes from a combination of a pedal bike, a treadmill and supported by BLDC electric motor. Structural failure occurs when the frame receives force or load exceeding its material strength capacity. This study was conducted to determine the safety factor of the Helicle bike frame to see the stress value generated due to a loading and its safety value. The first step of this research is to draw Helicle frame using autodesk inventor. After that, a static stress analysis was carried out by simulating the frame using Autodesk Inventor Professional 2016 and continued with a static calculation of the frame where the frame is assumed to be simple beams. The Helicle frame is designed using mild-steel material. The results of this study by the simulation methods of stress analysis obtained a maximum von misses stress value of 63.5 MPa, displacement maximum of 0.2107 mm, and safety factor minimum of 3.28. Through static calculations, the maximum stress value is 43.39 MPa and the safety factor is 5.6. The maximum stress through simulation with autodesk inventor and calculation through static calculation has a value less than the maximum allowable stress for the material (69 MPa). The safety factor value is more than 3, both stress analysis through static calculation (SF=4,7) or simulation with autodesk inventor (SF=3.28). So it can be concluded that the Helicle frame is safe for human up to 120 kg
