Abstract

Introduction: Communication is an important thing in nursing services, especially in nursing services with cancer patients. But unfortunately the nurse's skills in terms of communication are still lacking. Several interventions have been carried out to improve nurse communication skills, especially in cancer services. Purpose: This study aims to obtain evidence of what research has been done and the effects of the training. Methodology/Approach: Using a review with 2 databases, namely PubMed and Science Direct and 1 second hand with the keywords "training; communication skills; palliative care; nurse". Boundaries for 2001 - 2021, the types of research include experiment, randomized trial, RCT, pre-test - post-test randomization, curriculum development and implementation. Findings: There were 7 articles that were reviewed in this study from 436 results obtained by several trainings carried out including training with simulations, psychological training, preparation of modules for communication. Communication training on nurses has a direct effect on nurses to improve their communication competence in general. But it also has an effect for patients where patient satisfaction increases, the patient's quality of life increases, the patient's psychological distress symptoms may decrease. Originality/ Value/ Implication: Communication training is a very appropriate thing to improve the competence of nurses so that it is hoped that various other types of research will be carried out to improve communication skills besides that it is also applied to nursing services.
