Abstract

In learning English, the are some factors inhibiting students to speak English and it can hinder them to achieve their target language proficiency. The case when students find problems in using English languages and they tend to use Arabic more than English happened in an Islamic bilingual boarding school of Yogyakarta. This research was aimed to describe the factors inhibiting the students to practice their English language among students of an Islamic Bilingual Boarding School in Yogyakarta. This research employed a descriptive qualitative research. This research took place at one of Islamic Bilingual Boarding School in Yogyakarta because the students showed the inhibitation in using English Language. The participants in this research were three students from eighth grade. The data were collected through the interviews. There were four main findings found related to the research question, namely : Lack of grammatical knowledge, lack of vocabularies, incorrect pronunciation, and feeling anxiety.
